Slate with Gok Wan at One Size Fits All 20.10.18

Our day with Gok Wan at the One Size Fits All show was a massive success, and we were delighted to be showing off the best of Slate’s outfits to such an enthusiastic crowd!

Having been personally selected to feature at the event in Bristol, we knew it would be a day to remember…and we couldn’t wait for it to finally arrive! Whilst we’re used to running our own events either at local hotels or in-store, the One Size Fits All show promised to be something completely different. Big venue. 10 professional models. 350 guests. And Gok Wan!

After an early morning dress rehearsal on the Saturday morning, guests soon arrived in their droves and took their seats. A warm welcome from Gok ensured the excitement levels for the fashion show that was soon to follow were at fever pitch!

Our key labels on display were Joseph Ribkoff, Brodie Cashmere, Rino & Pelle, Frieda & Freddies, Part Two, GR Nature and Robell. With the cold months ahead, our focus was on layered outfits that could be dressed up or down and suitable for all body shapes and budgets. From the cutting edge design of a bold asymmetric Ribkoff jacket to a pair of eye catching palazzo trousers. The luxury of a warm padded white winter coat by Rino and Pelle matched with a classy brown trilby hat by YaYa. Or a stunning swing shaped navy tunic by Ralston teamed with a classic wool coat by GR Nature. Our show really had it all!

The day went without a hitch thanks to both our own staff and the excellent organisation from Team Gok. We were able to have control over the outfits displayed, and were thrilled to get so much positive feedback from guests we spoke to on a day which celebrated individuality, body confidence and independent shopping. We met several other fantastic retailers from the Bristol area who all work so hard to provide something different to what’s seen on the High Street, and who firmly believe in the importance of offering something extra special to keep independent shopping alive.

It was great to see the confidence that Gok instilled into the guests he spoke to, and this is something we always aim for at Slate. We believe in one to one attention and making a trip to Slate feel like a personal shopping appointment for all who want this. Buying clothes should be more than just an exchange of money for an outfit, but a real experience where our customers walk out of our shop with a smile on their face. Ultimately, One Size Fits All was a day for people to discover new looks, gain wardrobe inspiration and to feel good about themselves. And a day in the hands of Gok Wan certainly guarantees that.
